I thought it was Betty
and she was sad that she had died.
My mom stood silent and solemn.
I was 3.

 

 

I think, now,
that it must have been my Aunt Mary.
There were five girls and they all looked
and sounded alike. 
I do not remember my grandmother being there.

 

I guess because she had died a month earlier,
but not before she gave me a handmade quilt. 
I still have it.
