SKELETONSSEX 2012                                                                                                                             ISSUE 16

I just had an epiphany, I know what it is!

Uh oh…

And you probably know this too…sex is considered as something that feels good so if you have a lot of sex then you are doing something that you like which brings in the religious aspect; you’re only allowed to do something you like for a certain amount of time. That’s why they would use the term ‘addiction.’  I think the religious thing has a lot to do with a lot of things in this country; it’s the whole Christianity crap.

That’s why we love your magazine.

You know, in Christianity, Jesus suffered on the cross and you’re always supposed to suffer, so the whole thing with sex…

Everything is about suffer, judgment, and revenge.

Right, and if you have sex you have it to procreate but if you enjoy it then that’s when it becomes sinful.

And it’s an addiction because you’re enjoying something. I think so, there’s a lot of validity to that. I remember way back when I was a kid like the first homosexuality debate started to crop up, I was around 12.  I was watching the news and I kind of heard about it and the whole deal was can a man marry a man? Can a woman marry a woman?  And I just remember thinking, ‘Oh that’s stupid. There’s no problem.  Whatever.’  I remember thinking this isn’t even news, that’s fine. It was that insignificant to my thinking that I just couldn’t understand why anybody would care, and I was 12. Now I’m 35 years old and we’re still arguing about it and I’m still stunned every time something new comes up because it just seems so insignificant to me.  I just cannot stress enough how little I care who other people marry or who other people fuck or what they do with their time.  I don’t understand how we’ve created an entire industry around what other people are doing.  They aren’t trying to prevent it to save them, it is purely punitive.  Our society has reared itself up to prevent other people from doing something.

Which doesn’t affect anybody else except those two people.

And the example that I used is I don’t want to see anybody fucking.  I really don’t. Well, maybe there're a few people but…in general, you and Jim are a heterosexual couple. I don’t care if you two have sex. If you want to, I hope that it helps, but ultimately your sex life and your marriage is your business and impacts me not at all, for the most part, of course.  I don’t care. If someone said, ‘Will you sign a petition to make Jim and Dreama have more sex?’ I’d be like, ‘No, I’m not going to fucking do that. I do not care.’  So if Jim was replaced with Linda my answer would remain the same, I still don’t care.  I was 12 years old and I figured that out. I’m 35 years old and it's still one of the biggest debates in this country.  Whether or not we should regulate who can marry who and whether or not they’re allowed to have sex.  I’m serious.  It just seems so stupid.  It’s like trying to pass a law that limits the amount of breaths you can take.  That’s fucking ridiculous, people need to breath, go away!  And then all of the sudden it becomes huge and everybody’s talking about it. I can’t believe we’ve kept this debate alive for 23 years, let people do what ever the fuck they want.  It doesn’t hurt you.

I know this isn’t related to sex but freedom of speech and the freedom to make your own decision, very very intrinsically and specifically must, and this is very important to truly be free, it must allow you to make the wrong decision.  If you are not free to make the wrong decision then you do not have freedom of anything and that’s just unfortunate. I don’t want people to make the wrong decision either.  I don’t want people to get on the internet and learn how to kill themselves and then do it.  I do not.  But if we are a truly free society, I’m sorry; you have the right to do the wrong thing.  It is not true freedom if you cannot choose incorrectly because then you only have one choice and that’s not freedom.  It’s not freedom to choose the right thing, it's freedom to choose.
