| As mentioned earlier, most
people felt that entertainers do have a right to political opinions even
though they are paid to entertain with their musical talent.  No
one can argue that entertainers aren’t people too.
Dreama also commented that politics and music go hand in hand. They are
both part of our daily lives.  Some of the best songs have
political themes. For all of those people who go to concerts and don’t want to hear political opinions, I think they must consider
whether the songs they are paying to hear are really politic-free.
Almost all artists voice opinions in their music, whether political,
environmental, or social.  There is a direct connection between
musicians and politicians. Now, if we could only get politicians to be honest, musicians to be informed, and the media to give unbiased coverage of these people… well then we’d have a different survey to conduct. None of those things are actually going to happen so maybe we can find comfort in the rights American’s have in freedom of speech. Clearly, whether you like entertainers who voice their political opinions or not, it is an American right to have the choice to listen to them. If you don’t like the political views of entertainers, don’t pay for their albums or their concerts. At the end of the day, it is what makes things work… all kinds of people get to say all kinds of things and the listener can choose whether to listen or not. Do you have an opinion?
