Now, I know you are wondering if I was ever approached.  Well, yes, but remember discreetness was the rule and I have never been one to catch on to hints.  It wasn’t until years later that I got it.  Good thing I wasn’t interested.  I remember once a couple came to our table and started chatting.  My host friend introduced us but seemed uncomfortable.  I just thought the couple was being nice.  The lady complimented my hair and said I looked like Anjelica Huston.  The guy was kind of quiet.  Eventually they left and I remember thinking, “Well, that was random.”  Eh, they weren’t my type anyway.

Another time the owner asked if we could dress up for Halloween to create atmosphere for the guests.  The guests never dressed up for anything, or wear much at all come to think of it, so when I showed up in a full length gown everyone was very interested in my dress.  One fellow said he liked my hairstyle.  I had teased it up into a 1960’s bump and he asked if it was real.

Anjelica Houston

When I told him, ‘Yes.’  He said he would love to see what it looked like when it was down.  Again, I just didn’t get what he was suggesting.  I really don’t pay that much attention to people on a social level.  I go to functions to watch the crowd, not be part of it.  I get ideas where most people get drunk.  I’m not looking for a hook up or when people start hanging around I just assume they are interested in conversation. I would hope some of them are.
There were no rules for women.  They could get away with anything.  They could wear what they wanted, say what they wanted.  So when the two girls in the bathroom offered me money to strip I had no doubt as to what they wanted.  It was Rocky Horror night and again the owner had asked if we could dress up for the guests.  We had not been there in a while so some of the patrons did not recognize us.  I was wearing my Columbia costume made of gold sequins and a top hat and I laughed because what a bizarre question to be asked while washing one’s hands.  When they stated again that they were serious I politely declined…I wonder how much they would have paid me…
